I have always been academically smart, and people have always said I had my head in the clouds and that I didn't have common sense. I've struggled with social anxiety and self motivation.
With Goleman's books, I feel like I have a whole new lens for looking at life. I can see how challenges that seemed intractable before to me (but easy to a lot of other people!) were caused not by a lack of this or that piece of information, but from neglecting my emotional maturity and social skills.
Thanks to this book, I have a roadmap to challenging and developing myself in the ways that will make my life better. I'm 25 now, and I'm so glad I found these works at this point in my life as I genuinely feel more hopeful about the future now.
In conclusion: Recommended!
