5.0 out of 5 stars Explore the universe, with things to do & plenty of white space to build a personal record
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 June 2021
One of my favourites in this new series from COLLINS, and a handy size measuring around 14.75 cm x 21 cm, this particular title has a selection of ideas & activities ‘to explore the universe’, starting with ‘DOWNLOAD A PLANETARIUM’.

The ‘LOOK INSIDE’ facility + current stock images above together give a good idea of the content.

From the back cover (image below refers):

🌌 ‘GET OUTSIDE, LOOK UP AND EXPLORE THE NIGHT SKY!
The how-to book for kids who love space.
It’s easy to understand and tells you exactly what you need to know step-by-step.

✔️ Easy-peasy tips on how to spot stars and planets
✔️ Space to scribble and make the book your own
✔️ Packed with fun things to do’

🔭 ‘Tom Kerss is an astronomer, astrophotographer, author, public speaker and science communicator, formerly based at the Royal Observatory. An avid stargazer, he is often found chasing dark skies all over the world but he's passionate about urban astronomy & astrophotography.’

ooOoo

The card cover opens to 96 numbered, matte finish pages as per the double page ‘CONTENTS’ at the front (image below refers).
Apart from ‘LUNAR ECLIPSE’, which runs from pages 40-43, the topics are set over double page spreads.
‘WHAT YOU NEED’ lists are included where applicable, with clear, step-by-step instructions.

Colourful in the layout, the informative book is also littered with TIPS’ & ‘HINTS’, & ‘DID YOU KNOW❓’ snippets, along with the odd note such as ‘BE SAFE⚠️’, from ‘SPOT VENUS IN BLUE SKY’, on pages 54 & 55:

☀️ ‘Venus always appears quite close to the Sun, so take care when looking for it.’

Activities include drawing & sketching, colouring, experiments, recording data, pondering questions & taking & sticking in photos.

The super book winds up with ‘RESOURCES’ (correct at the time of publication).
