The combination of close-to-feather shuttlecock flight performance and four to five times more durability than an ordinary nylon shuttlecock makes the Yonex MAVIS series the most cost-effective choice for practice sessions. Mavis 300 Red Yellow
From the manufacturer
Mavis 300 Nylon Shuttlecock by Yonex
Practise Hard with the Promise of Stability
Yonex is a company dedicated to manufacturing the most advanced equipment and accessories for sports such as badminton, tennis, and golf, and their mavis series of badminton shuttlecocks is an example of the brand’s constant endeavour to perfect their gear. The mavis 300 nylon shuttlecocks are the closest one can come to a traditional feather unit. Designed to have the same flight time as a feather shuttle, these nylon shuttlecocks provide an accurate performance that is ideal for beginners and intermediate players.
- Stable trajectory
- Faster recovery time
- Colour-coded for convenience
Nylon shuttlecocks have been a popular choice for players of beginner or intermediate levels due to a more durable performance compared to feather ones. The yonex nylon shuttlecocks offer unparalleled longevity while remaining uncompromising in terms of performance.
While conventional nylon shuttlecocks often falter in recovery, those from yonex’s mavis series differ greatly in performance. With a recovery time in few seconds, the mavis 300 shuttlecock, when smashed with great force, comes quite close to the performance of yonex feather shuttles.
With the mavis shuttlecocks, yonex has closed the bridge between feather and nylon shuttlecocks to a large extent. These have been engineered with precision to provide a performance that is close to feather shuttlecocks, the result being the same flight time as a feather shuttle.
The mavis 300 shuttlecocks do not just have a flight time similar to that of a traditional feather shuttle, but they are also able to provide a more traditional feel compared to other nylon shuttles. Their precision design enables a stable trajectory mid-air, which is further aided by a quicker recovery time.
Yonex understands the need for identifying the right shuttle for a particular playing environment. Yonex categorises their shuttles into 3 temperatures, each colour coded for added convenience. Red caps, blue caps, and yellow caps are suitable for 0-13, 12-23, and 22-33 degrees celsius respectively.
Ideal for Practice
While badminton pros usually prefer using feather shuttlecocks, nylon shuttlecocks present a good option for beginners and intermediate level players. Their durability makes them perfect for using in practice sessions, while yonex’s engineering makes the mavis 300/350/600/2000 shuttles behave much like a feather unit in their flight.

Update- Ordered a couple of more boxes. Each was plastic sealed at top and bottom. Shuttles play well, as expected from a genuine product.
Update June 2018: Reordered based on earlier experience but was shocked to find damaged packing and taped boxes unlike the plastic sealed boxes received earlier..
Reviewed again 15th June 2016
Bought one box shuttle from cloudtail Amazon was good in quality, bought 3 box from other seller on Amazon they are poor in quality. So again I think duplicate or inferior material being dumped in India.
Happy with the product.
If u r short of time to go for purchasing it u can order them online.

+Yonex Mavis 300 first: Having tried many plastic shuttles, I have found that Yonex Mavis 300 are by far the best. I now have two groups of badminton players who all love Mavis 300 the most. We tried more expensive Mavis models, but concluded that Mavis 300 remains the best. We therefore have been using Mavis 300 over the last 10 years.
+Blue (medium) Preferred: The blue ring means medium speed for Mavis 300 and we have found the blue ones suit most of the badminton players.
+Mavis 300 shuttles are a good compromise. They don't fly in exactly the same way as feather shuttles do but simulate feathers very well. In addition, hitting shots are clean & crisp and you feel good.
I find no difference between the yellow and white variants. Some may find the yellow one is easy to see but I would say it is purely a personal experience/preference. It usually costs me £7.99 for a Tube of 6 in Amazon. Occasionally, the promotion price could go down to about £5, but rather rare.
As it is only really an intermittent hobby, it is rather impractical to be continually buying new shuttlecocks. I decided that, in my badminton endeavours, I would resort to the lowlier, less professional shuttlecocks made out of nylon. These are faster, lighter and they actually last - for a long, long time. I have made good friends with these 6 shuttlecocks and enjoy their easy-going nature much more than their somewhat overrated pompous cousins. I would recommend these shuttlecocks for anyone who views their badminton as an enthusing game, that is more a hobby rather than a professional sport.
One thing that I learned very quickly is that we were always playing with worn out shuttlecocks. Normally the tell-tale sign being they don't tend do go where you want them to which is caused by the nylon on the tips splitting in places. I'm definitely going to blame the tools on this one negatively affecting my game play!
I bought these white Yonex Mavis 300 'blues' which seem to be the same as one of my mates, but his are luminous yellow with a blue ring instead. Essentially they are a rubber coated cork with nylon mesh attached. They seem well made and I've played with a them a few times since I purchased them. They do feel a little heavier/slower than my friends luminous yellow ones but I can't be sure if it's because these are new and less worn or they are slightly different weight.
I've only ever played with nylon shuttlecocks so can't compare these to the feathered ones that pros use, but for beginners these seem brilliant to me. A pack of 6 works out at £1.33 each which is really good value and even if they do wear out quickly then it doesn't break the bank replacing them.
Unfortunately replacing the shuttlecocks with new ones hasn't improved my play at all. I guess that must mean it's the racket that's faulty then!
- Yonex is a well known brand of badminton kit
- Brilliant value
- Well made
- Pack of 6
- I can't work out if they are slightly different weight to my friends old luminous yellow ones.
