5.0 out of 5 stars NO BELIVES, NO RITUAL, NO DOGMA ONLY SIMPLE PRACTICAL WAYS TO LIVE BEAUTIFULLY
By Shalini on 14 October 2020
The best part of this book is its so simple and small read packed with 100 practical ways of living to make our life simply like a bright lotus in the muddy swamps of life. In the beginning of the book the writer- head of the 450 years old monastery tells us that one will understand more about Zen simple by walking and enjoying the beauty of a zen than by reading out all the zen books out there. And this is the core message of the zen meditation and zen way of living that the art of zen living should not be in your head but in your daily life. This book is a very small read and anyone who has not even a read book in their lives will found out this book amazing. This book is packed with many beautiful illustrations and every page has no more than 50 words but every line spoken is more than a thousand theories and more valuable than an ounce of gold. I have read over 60 books till now but this stands among the top five in my list just because of the art in this book is crafted from its hardcover to colourful pages to the small 2-3 pages chapters. The Zen transmission started from Buddha and later Bodhidharma introduced it in China and in japan. Later it grew in Japan where it is still attached to its original sources. The whole teaching of Buddha is to live a moderate and blissful life and this book tells us how.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book!!
By CCD on 31 July 2020
Beautiful book!! Beautifully laid out simple lessons which can bring calmness and peace in day-to-day life. Most lessons are really easy to even share with kids to teach them also the benefits of small daily actions.
I already had Kindle version, which I liked a lot, so ordered the printed copy, to share with family members, and I'm really happy to do so. It's a nice hard-bound book with good paper quality and nicely spaced printing fonts with many colourful pictures. Nice for returning back to it now-and-then. It would make a great gift.
Money well spent!

By Vishal Palliyathu on 3 July 2020
It's a beautifully crafted book, with insights and methods, and a hundred tiny but profound lessons that would handhold you into the soul of zen.

The message is as beautiful as the booK... and it does invite you to revisit it often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Re-energise yourself with kindness
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 June 2020
A beautifully presented collection of simple ideas and thoughts to spark positive change – 5 Stars

I’m so glad I purchased this book; dipping in to its pages is a feast for the eyes and a breath of fresh air for the mind. Hardback, and an ideal size to drop into a bag or backpack, I read this as much while I’m out in the open as when I’m indoors. Drawing on principles from Feng Shui, Japanese horticulture, mindfulness, meditation, and Buddhist philosophy, this volume contains one hundred suggestions of ways in which we can enrich our lives.

Illustrated throughout, the artwork is as gentle in its design as are the words on each page. The ideas expressed within present small changes that require very little (if any) material input, instead they encourage a shift in perception and habits. Paying attention to small details in our environment, and even to mundane tasks, requires a focus that naturally reduces the ‘busyness’ of the mind. The outcome, as the author explains, is both kinder to ourselves and to those we encounter.

For anyone looking for an introduction to Zen values, wanting help dealing with stress, or simply trying to find the essence of what makes them happy, then this book is a great place to start. Whilst the concepts are presented with a child-like simplicity, mastering the mind-set it advocates takes practise and dedication. However, adopting just a few of the ideas suggested quickly brings positive results and an improved sense of well-being that makes practising a pleasure.
