LOCATION
The books are set in a fictional rural North Yorkshire with a scattering of market towns, many small villages and countryside that changes from high moorland with dramatic crags, mountain tarns and sparse vegetation, to the gentler, lush agricultural land lower down the valley that is bisected by the river Helm. The town of Helmsdale is where Mike Nash and his team are based, in a sub-division of their headquarters in the larger town of Netherdale. Further to the west is Bishopton, also part of the hub our detectives cover.

Bill Kitson is the author of the DI Mike Nash thrillers, plus the Eden House Mysteries featuring amateur sleuths Adam Bailey and Eve Samuels. The Cowgill Family Saga is the latest addition, previously published independently, but now all commercially published.

He also writes The Greek Island Romances along with several other titles, all published independently in support of a Greek charity for disabled children, ELEPAP. All royalties from these books are paid directly to the charity.

Living and working throughout the north of England he is now retired from the finance industry and lives on the east coast, where his writing never stops. He can often be found on a Greek island, staring out to sea, laptop at the ready.

The actual story wasn't bad but I was thoroughly put off but the repeated notes of how attractive the female characters were, and how they were all desperate to throw themselves at the male protagonist. I can't see what it added to the story, it was just a dull reminder that to so many male authors female characters are just invented to stroke their character's ego (and therefore their own).

I nearly didn't persevere with this book as the first few chapters were totally disjointed and I felt that I was reading 3 different books..... but then it started to piece together and I felt compelled to read it. Although the subject matter on the whole was quite troubling, it was the whole point of the story. I also kept thinking it couldn't be 'book 1' as it often referred to a previous plotline which made me feel I was missing something. All in all, it was a captivating read and made me want to get to the conclusion.

started good but was like reading some crap hollywood film you could tell it was a male author how many women throwing themselves at the main character who i can only assume must look like brad pitt lets face it just would not happen in real life and i found it to hard to believe that all these evil gangster bomb expert human traffickers was living in sleepy yorkshire and the relationship between nash and stella i felt like id missed something thought this was book 2 not 1

Not a bad storyline, although the ending is well OTT and the hero's obvious bewitchment of every female within 100 yards is a little unbelievable. Littered with missing words; usually "a" or "the", so not too difficult to read, but distracting. Some glaring errors - "...smell of carbon monoxide..". No, it doesn't have an odour, that's why it's so dangerous. Do some idiots really stuff newspaper up chimneys to stop birds? Sounds a bit stupid. Maybe that's why so many people die from carbon monoxide poisoning or just set the house on fire. I don't think a quarter of a mile is too much of a problem for any reasonable sniper - the world record is well over 2 miles. And I don't believe that a visiting foreign officer would be allowed to have investigative and arrest powers, nor would these be reciprocal. I shan't be reading others in this series. Wooden characters, too much repetition, and just plain silly.

Hopelessly far fetched. There's nothing else to say, really. I didn't believe in the killer leaving the second floor flat through the window in full breathing gear without being seen. I didn't believe in a main character so attractive every women he met wanted to sleep with him. I didn't believe the Home Office would give powers of arrest in Britain to a Russian policewoman sent to Yorkshire to work with British police on an abduction case. I just didn't believe. If the style had been good, I might have been prepared to forgive so much that was unbelievable - but it wasn't.
