NO, starting current of the motor is high. Also, 1 HP motor requires contact rating of 15 A. It will burn out contacts during start up.

No. It is used only as a float switch in a water tank. It remains suspended in the tank and when the water reaches a defined level in the tank the pump can be turned on or off. I don't think it will support more than 10Amps. current. Hope this helps.

The weight is attached almost midway between float up when water filled and float down when tank is empty.
