It is meant for kitchen storage purpose and is best for that. Not an expert to comment on it's use for chemical experiment. But why buy expensive ones for experiments?

I think so. But still I would not use the Borosil Classic Glass Jar 900ml for storing dals and grains because for one it is quite fragile and secondly it is more suitable for storing powders or leaves like tea / coffee, which are soft and require air tight storage.
