Yes it may slide here n there while braking... As I am using it tied to a carrier but still it slides on high speed n sharp turns

I wouldn't recommend it. A roof carrier must be installed which transfers the weight to the pillars.
Service advisor was horrified when I asked him the same question (my car is a Honda-BRV). There is a risk of the roof sheet metal buckling under the load.
