Frances Lloyd was born in Essex but spent a nomadic childhood being carted between RAF stations until mercifully, she was allowed a crack at a proper education in Cheltenham, studying English and Classics. As an adult, she became something of a wandering minstrel with no physical or spiritual roots apart from a strong work ethic.

Frances has always been a writer. The job that paid the mortgage was in government communications, She also worked as a freelance journalist and photographer but her ambition was always to write crime novels.

She now lives in Northumberland - "Vera" territory - and writes full time. She has published ten DI Dawes murder mysteries.

Married three times but now a widow, Frances’ hobbies are reading, wine tasting and cooking.

What I journey I took as I jumped into this world of demons. I didn't want this story to end. The author really captured the presence of evil in some humans. Lileth, the antagonist, is an evil woman. Only showing her good side to her followers but those with money had no chance against her evil nature as she milked them through blackmail.
Three unexplained deaths causes Jack Dawes and his team to investigate a commune run by Lileth, only to return to the station with their tails between their legs after discovering nothing that would incriminate Lileth. Once again she had outsmarted them.
Not surprised when Corrie stepped in to try and find out the truth. Corrie, Cynthia and Carlene---the 3 C's---hired some black, hooded cloaks and ventured out to the forest where Lileth was holding a 'black mass'. At that point I honestly couldn't put this book down. I could feel the build up and the urgency in the author's writing as I turned each page. Wow, what a journey.
If I could have given the book more than 5* I would have. Well done to the author, Francis Lloyd.

I love this series. There's something to make you smile and something to try to solve. These stories get better too with each book. And the author does recap on the main characters (I suppose for new readers) but not to the point that usual readers are bored and thinking I already know that and it pads out half a book as is happening with other writers . Give them a go, they are a really good read

Having read all the books in this series this one was by far just too silly to enjoy. I've read the others with an open mind, tongue in cheek humour, Carrie endless annoying interference but sorry this story was so unbelievable I couldn't summon up the effort to enjoy it. My previous ratings have been 4/5 star but I'm being generous with 2 star for this one.

Please don't say that this is the last book about Jack Dawes and Party. I have really enjoyed the whole series. The storyline is intriguing and Corries involvement adds to the adventures. More please!!! March 2021 . Had to read this book for the second time
Enjoyed it just as much. Have found that there are two more books left to read in this series. That will complete my collection. January 2021

Oh heck! If you’re at all spooked by demons, the devil & satan, then beware of this book. It is incredibly well written and extremely graphic. Jack and Bugsy are, of course, very sceptical and wait for the evidence. A brilliant book and a must read.
