Premchand is master of tragedies. Don't know if he has only seen tragedies in his own life. Such emotional and heartfelt novels and stories can only be written by someone who has experienced it firsthand. Poverty and self reputation was very big thing in people's lives. There is no greatness in dying for misjudged remarks by others. Self worth is not such a thing to die for. Why his characters are so weak emotionally I can't understand. There is no greatness in punishing others or proving your point by dying. Why so many misunderstandings? Why so much communication gap? May be to teach us to value others feelings.
