Ever since I heard that the next Hive anthology would be a collection of thriller tales, I've been eagerly waiting for the book to be released. As I had already read the horror anthology (Route 13: A Highway to Hell) by the same set of writers, it set a benchmark in my mind about the kind of writing I could expect.
"Blood Runs Cold" is an anthology of 17 thriller stories by 17 authors. Ranging from detective thrills to hardhearted kills, from SFF chills to real world ills, this collection covers most of the thriller genre in a scintillating manner.
Everyone knows that all short stories in an anthology wouldn't be of the same level. So my benchmark usually is 75%. If more than three-quarters of the book has good stories, it is worth purchasing. I found 12 stories of this book absolutely fabulous. Most of the remaining stories are also very good but they either didn't "thrill" me as much as they should have or they weren't my kind of thrillers. To add further value, the books also provides you some fabulous mini tales at the end. So this book is definitely worth going for.
Indulge your thrill glands by reading "Blood Runs Cold". You will definitely relish this well-written thriller anthology.
