Brilliantly written story of 16-year old Brianna Jackson who is a victim of racism and uses her raps to raise a voice against those who are prejudiced against her because of the color of her skin. With a brutal take on racism that still lives even in the most modern societies, On The Come Up is a story of passion, dreams and dignity. Though categorized as YA, I feel everyone should read this book because it talks about very important issues. A great book, truly.
