The book probably takes a while to really hook you into the story. But once it does, it's hard to put down. And there are chances you will revisit the book, get obsessed with it for a few days even!
The beautiful thing about this story is that it does not pretend to try to normalize something which should otherwise be treated delicately. It shows that what the characters go through are pretty much relatable.
This is the story about a closeted gay high school teenager who falls in love in a strange yet slightly relatable way. In the day and age of Tinder hookups and Facebook dating, it is not entirely unrealistic to believe how two individuals can fall in love simply by exchanging emails.
What we get in this wonderful and heartwarming story, makes out hearts yearn for a happy ending. As opposed to the tragedies which other stories dealing with homosexuality inevitable bring up, this story is a 'straightforward' romance. And comedy. Not that he protagonist's life is all flowery and too perfect, he has his own problems to deal with, but your heart goes out to him, and you just want him to be happy. I think that's the beauty of such delightful writing. Maybe a happy ending is really all we ever crave for. And when a book generates that feeling in you by tugging at your heart by the right strings, it must really be a freaking awesome book!
A must read for all lovers of wonderful stories. You will definitely recommend this to is to your friends and family too.
(Also looking forward to the movie now!)
