Customer Review

Reviewed in India on 17 June 2018
I purchased this from Amazon on 15 Jun 2015. Writing this review on 17 Jun 2018, 3 years after purchase. After 2 years of use, the hard disk developed an issue after a SIMPLE fall while connected to the laptop from low bed to the carpet on floor about 1 feet below. Problem was that soon after this the data read/write operations slowed down painfully. It would take 1 hr to copy 10MB data from WD to the internal drive and writing data to WD was almost impossible. I spent 3-4 months to retrieve my important data and then raised an RMA online where after providing Original invoice from Amazon the warranty was updated to 3 years. As there were no signs of shock or mistreatment/abuse, the service center(OTC), gave an instant replacement on the spot. It seems WD hard-disks have very low shock resistance/resilience as evident from many other cases I saw online. Now I am using a new/refurbished hard-disk and they gave 100 days warranty on the replacement. My overall experience:

+Packaging and shipping were perfect.
+Hard disk is very small, lightweight and portable.
+Speed is good with USB3 port
+USB3 cable provided is average in length(may be due to data/speed restrictions of usb3 as longer cable might slow-down or corrupt data transfer)
+Very less operating noise.
+Very less vibration/humming while working.
+Warranty services are excellent and fast. If there is an OTC centre in your city these will be great as you get on the spot replacement.
+A minimum of 90 days extended warranty given on the replacement drive if 3 years are over.

-Casing seems cheap and bends when pressure is applied.
-No built in safety for physical damage.
-Provided USB cable could be longer.
-Noise seemed to have increased over 2 years.
-Very delicate to shocks/falls so need to be careful while commuting.(Always have a dual backup of your data otherwise you may regret it later).
