Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is the first book in the series by the same name. Celaena Sardothien, the protagonist is Adarlan's most notorious assassin who was enslaved in Endovier. She is bought to the king's court to compete to become the King's Champion and win back her freedom, failing which she would be killed. The things become dangerous as the competition proceeds and several dark secrets are revealed in the course of the book.
🗡
When it comes to characterisation, I feel that the author has done a tremendous job. She has shaped and developed the characters masterfully and has weaved the story with a lot of skill. I really liked Nehemia and Dorian, apart from the obvious favourite Celaena. Lies, murders and manipulation dominate the narrative. The narrative was a bit slow paced during the first half of the book but it became interesting and thrilling later. I was in for a lot of surprises and I couldn't put the book down. I would highly recommend you guys to read this series if you still haven't.
