It’s been two long years since I read a romantic novel after all, I found them to be similar and painful as the same. I had the urge to read this book once I got to know about the author who has worked on plenty of advertisement campaigns that we chanted in our childhood and to be honest I wasn’t disappointed.
BLURB:
“Once, you have let someone in, take good care of that person, in both good and bad times. To love strongly is a great thing. To be loved just as strongly in return, that is a miracle in itself.”
It’s a story of Neha and Tarun where both love solitude and happen to begin their life in Shimla for their graduation. Neha, a loner, stays with her best friend Ritu, who is the exact opposite of her, is the only pleasure and satisfaction she gets in life. Neha is haunted by her dark past which made herself a solitudinarian where she couldn’t withstand the presence of a stranger apart from the people she is familiar with. Tarun, a handsome loner, tutoring in the same college, stays with Gaurav; his roommate even holds a depressing past and often dares to overcome his horror by standing up against people who are oppressive against women.
What happens if they meet? Will they fall in love? What has life got for them?
What I loved??!:
The author impressed me with his writing, describing the cedar trees, the refreshing winds, especially, his notes (POV) at the end of each chapter. That’s something new and innovative!! The characterisation of Neha, though others may contemplate it to be PTSD, personally, I felt it to be grief-stricken and heartbroken about the past. The friendship between Ritu and Neha has been adorably penned and loved the way Ritu stands up for her. I was astonished to read the ending as it was not what one expects it to be and that was exciting.
What could have been better??!:
The dating between Neha and Tarun felt to be a little over-dating where I couldn’t find the development of any other characters apart from Neha and Tarun.
Recommended to those who love short romantic thoughtful reads.
