I enjoyed the authors previous books "The History of India for Children 1 & 2". I bought "History Hunters: Chandragupta Maurya and the Greek Onslaught" with high expectations and I was not disappointed.

Four children Zoya, Eknoor, Ansh and Rohan along with Rohan's pet elephant Elfu are magically transported to the past and meet a young Chandragupta Maurya who is learning the skills that he needs from his guru Chanakya.

They witnessed Alexander's victory over Porus.

Then they travelled to Takshashila together where they witnessed amazing things from the past.

This book makes the past come alive. We see how people actually lived in the past from the food they ate to the clothes they wore.

Anyone from young to old will enjoy this book which is beautifully illustrated by Priya Kuriyan.

At the end of the book a Fact Tracker gives the History of this period in a concise way.

My kids thoroughly enjoyed The History of India for Children and refer to it concurrently with school work too, so I didn’t hesitate to order History Hunters by the same authors.

History Hunters is the story about 4 children and a pet elephant(!) who are transported to ancient India.

It’s an engaging story - I picked it up to get a gist and ended up reading it cover to cover…

What I liked most was the concluding remarks on fact vs fiction - so that the reader knows where the authors have taken creative liberties!

Can’t wait for Book 2…

This book is a treat for people of all ages. For children, it is a fun and contemporary way to introduce them to the legendary kings that ruled India during its glory days. Learning history in school is often tedious and this book helps to make history fun. Introducing today’s technology advances through time travel and, with characters that today’s children can relate to, the book will enthral children and help them understand India’s past and take pride in it.

For adults. the book is the perfect way to revisit India’s history. It is a fun read that breezes through the early life of Chandragupta Maurya without getting bogged down in details. Nevertheless it provides insights into his character and his training under Chanakya which is often missed out in history books.

Felt like I was back to my childhood days. This book was a fresh reminder that I still have got some adventure in ms with the same bit of enthusiasm that I donned back in those beautiful days of childhood. I'll be real, History was never a subject I cherished and that was mostly the fault of my boring school text books. If I had ways to learn History like it has been represented in this book, I'm sure I would have not only loved it but also be obsessed with it. History Hunters was such a fun read, propelling the reader straight into an age that very much built India. If adults like me could enjoy this little delight so much, I can only imagine what impact would this book have on the kids of this generation. The highlights of this book are definitely the beautiful, larger than life illustrations that almost felt like watching cartoons and the fact vs fiction page in the end that explains what all have been imagined for the sake of the story. That definitely adds to the credibility of the book. Would recommend this one through and through to one and all!
