This book does not always revolve around Jackson's imaginary friend Crenshaw. It has many of Jackson's past's recounts that relate with the present. The novel has focus on many things. One of them is the financial problem Jackson's family is suffering. It will teach the enough privileged folk the importance of money and also give an important lesson in terms of friendship which is beautifully explained with Crenshaw's presence.
I took this book up primarily because I just the loved the cover. The other reason being I was done 'adulting' for a while and I wanted a real good change.😁 So I adore the book. It was light hearted, of beat and so so so sweet. I am sure the kids between 8-12 would love it so so so much. Crenshaw was the cutest giant cat. I really loved it and had a great time reading it.
Just scrolling through when I saw the cover and HAD to HAVE it! What a magic book. Crenshaw is an invisible friend. A very large cat who was the imaginary friend of a small boy some years previously. But when trouble arises, Crenshaw comes back....... This a a heartwrenching tale, and the author met some children who had experienced the childhood side of grown-up's troubles and had to write this book. You need to read it.
My ten year old daughter loved this book. It was a little below her reading level but she really enjoyed it and said the story was sweet and kind of sad. She called it a "family book".... a book about a family that families can read together. She highly recommends it.
