I was really surprised by how much I liked this book. I only started to read it yesterday and I just couldn't put it down. It was addictive, passionate, sweet, funny and just perfect.
I love historical fiction!
Where can I find my own Wicked Duke? I love, love, love Fallon. She's such a great character! Strong-willed, passionate, witty and more powerful than she lets on. I think she's fantastic and a brilliant heroine!
And who could ask for a better hero? He's dark, brooding, hot as hell and has a sweet and sensitive side to him that is a pleasure to discover!
I cannot recommend this story enough, this book is very well written and I can't wait to read the next one!!
I enjoyed the way their stories are told. They are both unwanted children that suffer from different reasons a similar heartbreak of not being loved. As Fallon is sent away to be "educated" , Dominic is first educated at home by someone as awful as Fallon finds in " The School for Virtuous Girls" . They are both mistreated but react in different ways. They are both very stubborn and with very different expectations. She knows of his reputation when they meet but he's just enamored. The situations are very entertaining and the ending is good.
Dominic Hale (Demon Duke) is my favorite Hero to date!! I accepted his reasons for being dark. I think my second favorite hero might be Ash Courtland in the 3rd book of this series. I have long loved the rogues/scoundrels from Lisa Kleypas, Jess Michaels (Flynns) and Bronwen Evans (wicked wagers). These are the books I search for and this series was an exciting find for me! I will be reading more HR from Sophie J. I am not interested in doing a critical analysis on any of the historical romances I read but rather an opinion of what I like and you can decide if that sparks a similar interest in your choices. Make me blush but not ashamed, make it exciting but not a thriller, and give me some fun FICTION! I love it when a hero reforms for a good hearted heroine in need. Sins of a Wicked Duke delivers this for me!
I like the characters from start to finish. The hero is an unapologetic cad, bedding women left and right, but he enjoys the antics of the heroine (the one he can't seem to woo). Some of the romance is predictable, but still I enjoyed this. Adults 18+ only for sexual situations. Must read.
Some have criticized this book, saying a duke could never fall for a common woman, but that's the very thing I loved about this book. So many other historical novels have desperate women who must marry because they have been "compromised" or gentleman marrying because their honor demanded it. That is not the case with this book. The hero cares nothing for how he is seen or if he is considered indecent, and the heroine is a real woman, not someone who has been coddled or pampered all her life. It's about time someone wrote a story about a working-class girl getting her happily ever after. Loved it!
First book read by this author! Love the interactions of h disguised as H's valet, the unveiling is amusing & fun ! How does author do it! Brilliant story of love over coming all obstacles! Wish I could afford to immediately read all her books !
