I can't understand the bad reviews, so the heroine was a bit of a spoilt brat initially, hardly an issue as I'm sure a lot of indulged females of the time were. It was a great story & I liked the slow burn of their battles, unfortunately though, not enough to pay over a fiver for the others in the series.....
Sophie Jordan writes delightful Historical Romance, and this new novel is no exception. The Hero, Lord Camden has vowed to never marry; to never let himself become weak by falling in love with another. To ensure this, he never sleeps with the same woman twice, never lets himself become lost in the moment or bedmate. After a childhood tragedy losing his Mother and sister in a carriage accident, he enters his father's study just moments after he committed suicide. At age 11, he became an orphan. The Heroine meets the young Hero, when she is 9. She falls in love with her brother's friend at their first meeting. After a horrible misunderstanding, they quarrel constantly. I'll try not to give you any more spoilers, but just say, this is a Romance, and Ms. Jordan is a delicious Author!!
I didn't enjoy this romance as much as the first book in this series. It was true love but both of our lovers were bratty, spoiled children who both needed to grow up. The sex was hot but the end was disappointing.
This book was so much better than the first book in this series. The hero and heroine had infinitely more chemistry and I loved the Benedick and Beatrice, Enemies to Lovers thing they have going with each other. It was a very good read to indulge in while my internet is out.
The first book was better. I like this book but the heroine seem different from the first book and the hero was a little irritating and was so mean to the heroine in the beginning that I found that difficult to make up and excuse. It was nice to get follow up on the other characters. Still enjoyed this author's writing and already downloaded four books of another series.
I like this story b/c of the intensity of the feelings both main characters had for each other. They were both so hurt but could not communicate it and it festered into contempt and verged on hate for each other. Once the communication started and their struggles to come to terms with how they really felt for each other, everything came together. A good read.
