To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I have long been a fan of Kevin Henkes, especially his picture books, which I’ve been reading to kids for nearly three decades. I love his exquisite way with words, and gentle but clear themes for young readers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars I was delighted to read an ARC of SWEEPING UP THE HEART, his most recent novel. I realized I have not read enough of his novels, which I’ll be remedying in 2019! Sweeping Up the Heart captures Amelia’s feelings and hopes with such beautiful language that you almost feel you’re reading poetry. The story unfolds with humor, emotion, and the messy loveliness of human relationships. It’s amazing that in less than 200 pages, Henkes can tell a complex story with fully developed characters, and leave me in a puddle of tears. I think kids reading this will connect at many different levels, which makes it a perfect middle grade read.
