We have most of the MathStart books. They are simply fantastic! Mr. Murphy has a knack for simplifying the concept for little kids and the illustrations are very striking. We read a new one every week and read it once a day (an idea borrowed from a friend). The books also have some activities that go with the concept.
I am very pleased with the speedy delivery of this book. It arrived in the condition as was described. The book is perfect for the preschoolers I am working with. It has a lot of potential to use for maths, language arts and craft.
Extremely basic book for preschool level or first read alone books. I did not like the artwork in it, but I liked the story itself. A sock (kinda looking like a sock puppet) does not have a match so cannot be worn, so he leaves the drawer to find his matching partner. He finds a lot of socks along the way in hampers, washers, dryers, etc. Then the dog gets the sock and takes it to his basket where his match is also waiting. Once the sock is repaired, it can be worn. In the end of the book, the student/child practices matching socks. I wish the socks presented on the last page were all clean (because dirtiness rarely is identical even on matching socks... and because we usually sort socks once they are clean and out of the dryer.) Overall, its a cute book, but the artwork could have capitalized on personifying the sock like a puppet on all pages and make it more engaging therefore to the children.
Terrific book for little ones that focuses on the skill of matching - an early math concept! The only problem I had with it was that my 2-year old granddaughter so loved hearing it and matching the socks that I thought I needed to add some more variety for my sanity! She loves it! Transaction was very easy. Thank you!
