I've read Power of Now & Pacticing the power of Now by Eckhart Toll and I've watched several of his videos too before purchasing this product. If you have never read any book by Eckhart then read Practicing the power of now first. If you have read other books by Eckhart then purchase this product only if you have ample free time to read it. The vivid explanation of different topics by Eckhart helps in increasing spiritual awareness of individuals. This book doesn't dictate any methodologies or rituals.
Well being brought up in Indian culture, most of us are taught with many life lessons throughtout our life. Virtues like selfless, forgiveness, patience, open to listen, etc. are almost embedded since childhood. But how many of us really understand, care or follow all these, specially when we are grown up. Well that’s were this book will take you! It’s a nice read with some great examples from all different cultures and beliefs. I believe it will suffice the purpose of guiding and enlightening you if you stay loyal to read it thoroughly. Continuity is something that I struggled throughtout reading though. Probably not because of content organisation, but because of simple fact that it is not a sci-fi or a thriller novel that keeps you hooked. This is something one would need to tackle while reading this book. As an overall comment - Great creation!
Profound is what I would say for Eckhart Tolle's writings. So many 5 star ratings have been given to Tolle's books and so many reviews that I would not like to repeat.
One thing that I have felt with Tolle's writings is that they resonate with something inside the reader. The Truths expressed in the writings are timeless and are known to our deeper selves (and hence the resonance).
This resonance in itself proves the worth of the books and hence must be read by every person.
You would do yourself a world of good, if you put your hands on this book. You must read it to experience it. Just like anyother books of Eckhart, it is a masterpiece in itself. Eckhart stresses as in his other books, the way to live is in the present moment. This book is my Gita, Bible. Eckhart talks about our one binding force, the ego and how to break free from its clutches. He also very lucidly explains the pain body and how to dissolve it. Doing these two shall certainly awakens to our true nature. Very easily said than done. We need to be alert every moment and Eckhart insists the gateway to enlightenment or salvation or whatever we name that higher state is only in the Present moment.
This is the second time I am reading this book. First was on my kindle and after that I realized this book should be part of a tangible asset, and thus I purchased the paperback. The book meaning is so profound, it touches the very core of our existence. It provides subtle glimpses into the very Now which we as humans have lost touch with. It creates a sense that allows one to dissolve in the timeless Now thus releasing oneself from the shackles of time. It is great to be reading this book along with another great masterpiece titled "I Am That" by Swami Nisargadatta Maharaj.
Enjoyed the book as it reinforced many of the concepts and ideology presented in the Upanishads and advaita vedanta with which most Indians practising Hinduism are familiar. He has presented them in a way that the christian world can easily relate to with reference to Bible and other scriptures. It is a good spiritual guide drawing up on many ancient philosophies and thoughts woven together in a wonderful way with modern life in a simple and understandable manner. His insights and explanations are amazing. Overall, it is a wonderful guide to many of us to awaken to the spirit inside and get freed from the ego which tries to shield or hide our real nature and controls most of our lives. This is not a book that can be read in one continuous go and then forgotten. One has to put in time and effort and read it again and again and put it into practise to gain a level of inner peace and bliss while continuing to live and perform in this world of duality.
The Way Tolle explains the art of Being as against that of Doing is simply superb. Lots of practical examples help one to put this theory into practice in everyday Life. This book can also be perceived as a western way of looking into oriental philosophies especially that of the Maharishi's Self-enquiry approach based on 'Who Am I'
This is an excellent book for people who have witnessed ever in their lives that they are beyond their thoughts. For other people this book might not make any sense I am afraid. But if you have had those experiences then this is THE book which will help you grow that light of consciousness.
Hence I say it is a sequel to the book power of now. If power of now is too much for you then Practising the Power of Now is the book to start with.
This path is the path to take. It is all inclusive. It is the way for evolution of humanity.
I have always loved ET. Power of now was excellent. A new Earth on the other hand, is a little disturbing. Although it can help you observe your patterns well, you may just get obsessed about correcting everything. If you end up reading this one, just don't go on a fixing spree like I did. Patterns are merely for observation. Also, read this one only if you are in the right frame.
i love eckhart tolle! along with 'the power of now' this is another great, beautiful book from eckhart. i would recommend this and 'the power of now' to one and all. thanks to eckhart for writing this book!
