very prettily told tale about a very brave dog, a great tribute to the courage of the sled dogs in general, Good introduction to the famous Iditerod race . Beautifully illustrated ,. excellent for children I really enjoyed this moving story. Will keep the book for my grand children.
I really like the story. The drawings were nice enough. I wish the print quality was better, but otherwise, I think my niece will really like this story as she's learning about the Iditarod in school. Each student gets assigned team that they follow throughout the race. I have some reservations about the Iditarod as a whole in the treatment of the animals. This book will help open the discussion about the dogs and their welfare in the race.
My two year old twins are really into sled dogs so this was a good story for them. They sit through the length of text on the page without a problem. The pictures are nice but a little repetitive so they start to get bored with the pictures by the end. That is the only reason I took off one star.
This book is a little difficult to read because of all of the Alaskan towns, etc. It is a great book to expose students to the Iditarod Race and sled dogs. Good winter book. It talks about courage and determination.
