Oh! The art of simple living. The title captured my attention and I have to say I'm disappointed by this book. Having read the treatises of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu, this book failed to capture my interest. With its playful and simple prose, though easy to read it didn't actually teach me anything. The steps are practical and can be implemented right away.
These steps are so straight forward you can find them in any of the other self help books. The way of making coffee and going barefooted everywhere are quite good, among all, but it didn't give me the feeling I was looking for. Plus, the exorbitant price for such a lame book is a bit contradictory, when you compare the price to knowledge ratio.
The one good thing I found about this book are is the array of colorful full page illustrations. Those pictures made me peaceful, not the information given in the book.
Simply speaking this book was an utter disaster of a read. All the tips can be found lying on the internet. Do not waste your hard earned money.
If you really want to learn about simple living, there is ancient school of philosophy called 'Stoicism'. Look into it, if you wanna go to the roots of simple living and tranquility.
