I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book but I ended up being very disappointed since most of the recipes in this book have already been published in Martha Stewart Living and other books of hers... If you own most of her books, there's no point in buying this one.
I tried the Boston Baked Beans which Martha assured me would not require pre-soaking of the beans. I bought fresh beans and followed the recipe exactly and what I ended up with after 9 hours of cooking was little, hard beans --- they had not softened at all. Shame.
When hearing about this book I incorrectly assumed that it would have classic recipes from around the US that I don't know how to make or have never tried. Instead many of the recipes have a twist of unusual ingredients that I felt took away that classic expectation. It's been skimmed through loaned out and quickly brought back and now collecting dust on my book shelf. The reality of ever making anything out of it is slim to none.
Let me start by saying that I own copies of all of Martha Stewart's cookbooks and will continue to do so. That said, I think her latest book missed the mark. Instead of some fresh original recipes, the book reads more like a reprint of various recipes from her other books, website, and magazine. Not up to her usual high standard.
