I love the story, very sweet illustrations! Don't really like the way it's laid out on the kindle though, it's a bit confusing for me so not sure how my 8year old autistic son is going to get on with following the story!
Although this book is not as entertaining as the Tacky the Penguin series, it is quite engaging for kids. Mine appreciated Buddy's silly misinterpretations. The book is just ok and does carry a worthwhile message.
...and so we bought this book. I'm not sure it reflects the message we were hoping for, but it is cute. Buddy the bunny has huge ears but they don't matter because he doesn't listen. He gets things wrong and his parents are frustrated. They have tried everything and he doesn't change. He gets permission to go off one day and runs into the "scruffy varmint," who is less than patient. Eventually, their interaction leads the varmint to scream at Buddy and he gets so scared that he hops all the way home. Then all of the sudden, he listens to his parents.
My son is 5 and is having some challenges listening right now. This books is great! What I like best is that the story is not so obvious that the kids can figure out what you are actually trying to do. By the end of the book, they are laughing and telling YOU that the bunny needs to listen!
This is a good book for kids. The book “Me First” by this author and illustrator is a solid 5 star book. This is a nice book in the same idea but no where near as good as “Me First”. Buy “Me first” then this one or buy the 5 minute stories lesson book by this author because both stories are in it along with many other stories.
I have taught Prekindergarten for over 20 years and this book is a hit with my classes year in and year out. The children love the rhythmic language and the scrapes that Buddy gets in because he doesn't listen. It is a fun book as a grown up to read aloud, and it never fails to make the children scream with laughter, even though they all know the story by heart! Although I rotate books for the children to read, this one is always begged for by one and all. The children keep loving it literally to pieces. I am considering buying it in bulk to save on shipping costs! Finally, as a teacher, It continuously crops up as a curriculum tool for interesting discussions on rhymes, politeness, the senses, and of course, listening.
I love reading this book with my son. Not sure he really gets the lesson that not listening can be dangerous. But it's a silly book we have added to the shelf. And I think it is a book that is fun to read-aloud to kids.
