Starts really well drags in the middle then rushes the end. Good premise but misses the mark in places. Packaged well from this seller and came quickly but the book just wasn't it for me and I love the book its based on.
Disclaimer: this is a YA novel, and it shows. The writing is weighed heavily down with the narrators repetitive and boring explanations for literally everything she does, says, and thinks. I think this book would be so much better without all of that daunting fluff-- like the author was just trying too hard to make you feel or understand why the protagonist (antihero) did what she did... but it's just too much. The story would be so much more powerful and sophisticated if the author SHOWED instead of explaining and explaining everything. None of the characters, even after all of this extra exposition, were likeable, relatable, or interesting. The author tries to tell you they are with everything they do, but it just doesnt work. The ending was beyond predictable... I couldn't wait for the book to be over. The ending was also horribly rushed compared to the rest of the story's pacing. It's a mess. Needs to be edited again, at the very least. The writing comes off as self indulgent fan fiction. Gag.
