To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
My 2 1/2 year old and I find this book boring. I agree with some of the other reviews that it's not witty or funny like Dragons Love Tacos. Illustrations are good so I will give the book that. I would return it except it costs almost as much as the book to ship it back.
Generally the book is cute and unique (which is hard to find in picture books.) However, I am giving it less stars because it has a big part of the story line relies on keeping secrets which is not a great thing to teach small kids.
At least it was too "clever" for our kids (7 and 9), and the drawing (as on the cover as pictured) is confusing to little kids who may not know what the animal is or what it really looks like. The hit of the book was the Broom-bots.... that does not speak well for the story.
I'm not appalled that this book is about a kleptomaniac pizza raccoon like some of these helicopter parents who are worried this book will lead to a life of crime. The reason for my two stars, it's a dumb book. d-u-m-b. We also have Dragons Love Tacos and Those Darn Squirrels and my son (and us to an extent) think they are really cute. This book though misses the mark.
I would still consider buying another book from these guys if they come out with one but I can't recommend this book, it's just not engaging. As other reviewers have mentioned though the illustrations are really good so if you are feeling creative you could just make up your own story and just flip the pages. That's what I did. My story was about a secret agent raccoon who had to save the pizza. My story was way better.
