To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
First time buying her cookbook. The recipes were underwhelming. I tried a couple of chicken recipes and didn’t seem to be different in any way from other cookbooks. I was hoping to find a bit more of a twist on comfort foods recipes
Claiming in the intro that people were cooking comfort food from their pantries is a joke. Just reading the ingredients she uses for the recipes are NOT part of most folks pantries. Truffles, fresh fennel, fresh leeks and many more ingredients are not in most peoples pantries. While the recipes look good, they are Way too fancy for most people Living in this pandemic. Also, many people are home alone or with one person. None of her recipes are broken down for smaller sizes. I am truly disappointed.
I returned this cookbook. Hard to find exotic ingredients. There’s fancy recipes and some very common recipes with jazzy high end additions to make them seem special. All recipes look delicious but not a cookbook I’ll use. My first ever cookbook return. Also see the other 1-3 star reviews. I agree with all of them
I own all of Ina Garten’s cookbooks, and I purchased Modern Comfort Food as soon as it was released, believing that the recipes would be “comfortable” but also tailored nutritionally to “modern” awareness of weight control. Unfortunately, I am returning it to Amazon because the recipes are too high calorie for my taste - too much butter, cream, breading, pancetta, etc. I have tremendous respect for Ina and know that she did her market research before writing this book. I wish her success, but she lost me on this one since keeping my weight down is a top priority. I am still a loyal follower and can’t wait for Ina’s NEXT book!
Was not happy with this book, keeping it only because I have all her other books. This one disappointed me with recipes that weren't useful to most of us. This book for me lacked heart, just random recipes.
Time to hang it up or get a really good chef ghost writer who has something new to offer- the past several books are insignificant changes on the same recipes over & over. There is nothing original- really , how many times do these books play on the cosmopolitan, chicken pot pie & shortbread recipe. First time to ever return a cookbook- same recipes once again with a different color binding.
