I read this as a child 30 years ago and I think contemporary values have changed. Some of the messages reflected in the book, regarding punishments and God sending us to fiery pits of hell, for example, don't feel appropriate for our times. The book itself was in perfect condition.
Originally published as "The Parables Of Jesus", this book is wonderfully illustrated, and the stories are special bedtime reading for children. It combines classic Tomie with classic Bible stories from the New Testament.
I wish there had been more elaboration on some of the parables. Even Jesus ended up explaining the parable of the sower to his disciples. I really like the illustrations and there are many parables in this book that we can discuss with our kids. Over all a very good book, but I think not his best.
