What an amazing book!! From the moment I started reading it I knew that this book was going to hold a part of my heart between its pages. The style of writing is very simple yet it makes an impact. The important lesson that comes across in this book is how sometimes we need to know and come in terms with our past to finally move on.
I really ennoyed this book as it was an easy read but with a fantastic story. One of the things I most enjoyed about this book was the descriptions, they really got me hooked onto the book. The story was clearly well thought through and you could tell, when everything fit into place. Crow is a really well thought through character that i think everyone can relate to. The fact this book is written in first person really helped me feel like i was in Crow's position. I think Beyond The Bright Sea has a fantastic mix of different genres which makes it a great book for anyone to read.
Overall I think it is a really fantastic book and I really enjoyed reading it. :)
Beyond the bright sea is a beautiful book. That I have thoroughly enjoyed reading! It really makes you feel like you are Crow. This story engages you really well all starting with the amazing blurb that mskes you want to say "Wow this is the one!". Such a great read for 10+. A pretty story. I really recommend it!
What a lovely book! I was transported to islands for adventure and discovery. My favourite though was the descriptions of characters that kept me reading to find out how their lives turned out. Crow - fantastic name, intriguing character. I enjoyed the journey of self discovery she made. An unusual way to arrive in a family but totally believable. Sad she lost her jewels but glad she found her space in the world. :-).
Absolutely beautifully written. This is children's literature at its finest. If Beyond the Bright Sea doesn't win an award, I honestly don't know what will. Crow's story tugs at your heart at all times and has so many deep lessons for everyone of all ages, relating to family, fear, greed and more. I have read Wolk's Wolf Hollow, and I really loved it as well but Beyond the Bright Sea, is my favourite. This is an absolute must in classrooms, especially for middle schoolers. I am sure Crow's story will stay with readers, close to their hearts, for a long, long time. Hats off to Wolk, she is truly a gifted writer who has gained yet another fan!
