The recipes are not helpful, as they often contain foods I or someone in my family cannot eat. I had hoped for simple easy already in the cupboard meals. It does give inspirational tips about diabetes and how to cope.
This is good book. But I am tried of cookbooks that use ingredients that either I don't know what are or the small grocery near my house doesn't have and probably never will. I live in a small rural town and it is over an hours drive to get to a larger store. I would rather they go back to the use of regular ingredients or if they must at least offer alternatives to those unusual ones.
I bought this cookbook in an attempt to get my diabetic boyfriend to eat a little better but actually have yet to even try a single recipe. They all seem pretty bland & boring. However, I do love all the information in the front of the book - on diabetes and explaining how carbs affect & how to maintain a healthy diet.
All in all I feel there are probably better cookbooks out there for diabetics.
