I bought this book after downloading Amazon's preview of the book. Turns out the preview is completely misleading, as it doesn't give a good representation of the book at all. Total waste of money unless you want a guide on how to make cakes by buying boxes of cake mixes. No actual recipes to make cakes from scratch. Wish I could get a refund
This is a great cookbook. I have gotten rave reviews on all the cakes I have made - Watergate, Triple Chocolate, Snickerdoodle, Chock full of Cherries, and Glazed Lemon were all good. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I like recipes that start with a cake mix.
The first chapter or so are lovely recipes, but then as you go deeper into this book, many of the recipes are based on cake mixes. Fine if you are looking to bake from scratch, but I was hoping for a nice collection of scratch recipes. Returning this book, will simply continue looking for scratch recipes online.
I wish I had the first review before i purchased this book. Like that reviewer, it would have been helpful to know that many of the recipes are based on boxed cake mix. That is not what I wanted and the information about the book should have mentioned it. I'm sending it back.
I love this book! It has lots of ideas for creating beautiful bundt cakes. The one thing I especially like about this recipe book is that the recipes are normal everyday cake recipes. Be warned there one recipe with tomato soup. The rest of the recipes are what you expect for a bundt cake, good old flour, sugar, and eggs. No weird squash/beet or other veggie bundt recipes in this book.
