I liked this book a lot. The writing and the characters were engaging. The whole idea of Hell and the bounty hunters was entertaining and original. My only complaint is that I saw the big twists coming a mile away, so the book lacked suspense for me. But I did enjoy it.
The Edge of Everything is beautifully written and downright cool. Zoe is a very realistic teenager and X is a great dystopian-esqe hero.
It only lost a star for me for being very frequently too descriptive and drawn out. Also its events were very predictable and I knew every "twist" and plot turn almost from the start of the conflict. That being said, despite it being predictable, the plot was creative and very interesting.
Surprisingly intriguing! I shouldn't merely judge books by its cover; however, admittedly I was very much swayed by the authors who recommended this book as well. I think it is going to wind up being a series? I will likely pick up the next one, but I would have been pleased if it was a one-off as well. There was enough closure at the end of this novel for me to feel satisfied as a reader.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a quick fun read! I only wish that the love interest in the story had a more developed foundation, then the two storylines would be better connected and I would have probably given five stars.
This is another book where the cover is very deceiving! I thought it was going to be a contemporary, but man was I so wrong! It ended up being a kick butt fantasyish novel! Who knew!!
I really enjoyed this one I loved the addition of the bounty hunter story line. I think this is my first with that line and I loved it! It was refreshing and so much fun especially since it had to do with souls! I have been looking for this type of book for awhile and this one did not disappoint!
My favorite part has to be the Lowlands. I love dark elements and this is was a very dark story line. I am very intrigued by it and I would've loved for the author to dive more into it.
This is a book I think people will pass over on the shelf because of the cover and it is a shame because it was so much fun!! I truly enjoyed it!
Zoe is seventeen and many crappy and lonely things have happened to her already. X is a strange and mysterious man who appears to be 20 years old that she meets under disturbing circumstances. Zoe has a younger brother Jonas who’s about eight, two dogs, and a bad ass, vegan, hippy type mom. They live in remote home in Montana. The story takes place in a short time during the cold winter stormy months. It’s an intriguing and original story that’s easy to fall in to and fast to read. It’s a coming of age story. It’s a romance between people from two different worlds. It’s paranormal. It’s good versus evil. It’s a family story. An action story. World building of the Lowlands. I had to suspend belief at the rate at which the paranormal aspects of X and the Lowlands were accepted. With most novels of this genre, the adults come off as seeming stupid, this one less than others but still present. It was an engaging well written story.
