5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Book and Beautifully Done

My brother doesn't like Bourgeois' work, but even he loved this book. She has a fascinating childhood, and the illustrations incorporate her artwork beautifully. Plus Abrams did an excellent production job. This is one of my all time favorite children's books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cloth Lulluby is indeed a beautifully illustrated and written story. For any age.

I love this story and can't say enough about the greatness . From the illustrations to the writing. Because of how much of a masterpiece this book is I would expect better handling of the book itself . This is not the only book that came from Amazon with marks on the cover. Or just mishandling . A tear or bumped corner is quite upsetting. Books that are ordered new should come in pristine condition. That is why I give 4 stars vs. 5. I would however Highly recommend Cloth Lulluby. I love this book about an artist's work that I actually had the wonder and awe of seeing in real life.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mismatch between illustration and text
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 23 January 2023

I have to confess I accidentally bought this thinking it would give a simple potted over view of Bourgois’s art, not realising it was aimed at children! That said I’m not sure at what age group it would appeal. Whilst the drawings in themselves are lovely, they in no way reflect Louise Bourgeois work, apart from the occasional spider. The text hints at her early life but borders on the inappropriate for anyone under 10 and although minimal content is given what there is is grammatically poor. It is as if the author wasn’t sure how to carry out the task and is neither one thing or the other. Bourgeois work is often dark and I’m not sure I’d want a young child having this read to them. Neither is it informative for anyone else. Very disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars GORGEOUS STORY OF DEVELOPING YOUNG ARTIST
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 19 October 2022

This story tells of the development of a Tapestry Artsist, & from the beautifully articulate language, one becomes the "third wall" to this Artists life. The book was described as in New Condition, but it has a scratch on the upper cover that is not fitting for a unit presented as New.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book

This book is beautifully written and really expresses the magic and scale of Louise Bourgeois's art and the impact it has on viewers. It is perfectly illustrated to bring her story to life. My five year old daughter loves it just as much as I do. I bought it for her birthday as a special gift as Louise Bourgeois is her namesake. ❤️

4.0 out of 5 stars Even baby enjoys it.

I thought it was too early for my 21-month-old baby to read it. How wrong was I. He picked it out from a pile and thoroughly enjoyed reading it with me. Of course I wasn't reading word for word to him, spoke to the pictures instead. He loved it in his own way - relating to things he knows: river, flowers, mommy, daddy, hands, colors etc. When he is older he'll enjoy it from a different perspective. But I am really glad this book offers a new illustration style for him to explore and appreciate even at this age.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love everything about this book

I love everything about this book. There are a couple bits that I am not sure I want to read to my almost-5 yr old, but overall this is lovely. I bought it for myself but I guess I'll let some children look at it too :)

This charming book is beyond wonderful. It brings texture on smooth paper pages, It offers the joy of process in its beautiful river analogy. Louise Bourgoise becomes accessible and understood in a deeply personal engagement with the beauty in life that is directly connected with the real and tangible. It is a singular gift that gives anew each time the cover is opened.
