I am writing my 1st picture book. I applied the techniques/approaches that the book suggests. This has already lead to 4 revisions in my story. I can feel the improvement in the flow of my story. Great book.
This is the best book I’ve encountered so far for writers of children’s picturebooks, from beginners to published authors. A satisfying read, being informative and inspiring, From studying the structure to how to get published. The only disappointment for me is as it’s an American book all the examples in the book are of American picture books. However someone pointed out you can see many of the featured books on YouTube. I’d still definitely recommend it to picture book authors.
I was looking forward to reading this book as it had come highly recommended . However the print is so small I can only read it a few minutes at a time before my eyes begin to hurt. A magnifying glass is definitely needed for comfortable reading as it is not a standard size font. I am considering returning the book Very disappointed that the publishers have skimped on such a (possibly) very informative book.
I love this book! It's the best source I've found so far on how to write picture books for children. So thorough and so many helpful writing exercises, plus I love all the suggestions that are made for picture books to read throughout. Thank you very much Ms. Whitford Paul!
