I bought this for my 10 year old daughter to help with introductions to periods. There are some useful sections, although it is more in-depth than she is ready for at the moment and is probably better aimed at a slightly older audience. What I find disappointing is that on page 13 (before there is any real discussion about periods) there is a section on anorexia and bulimia, together with an explanation of what each is and the opening sentence "Some girls worry so much about their weight that they become obsessed by dieting and exercise". It's not that I want to hide such issues from her but I question the priority this is given so early on in the book and it means that I will not be letting my daughter read it yet. I may keep it for later or for reference but would not recommend if you're looking for a gentle introduction to the topic of changing bodies.
An excellent book to help both Mother and Daughter talk about the changes that are soon to happen. This was sent to my Daughter in Law who was finding it very difficult to accept that her 'little girl' was groing up.
