To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book gets high marks from me for being a quality piece of children's lit. The illustrations are gorgeous, the story is uplifting, and its on-target in terms of what kids deal with in our world today. It also works well in demonstrating diversity, city life, and family values. However, it makes for a really awkward read-aloud in a preschool classroom or even with individual children. I wish children's authors thought more about how a story reads aloud because this one doesn't really work that way. I returned it for this reason.
