The author tends to go into all kinds of details of Einstein. If you like a blend of science with sociology, psychology and history, this is a good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read.

Walter Isaacson has an uncanny ability to write in simple words some very difficult things. He has made tremendous effort here too but I think Einstein's work is not easy to explain to a lay person like me who has limited exposure to Physics.
What you get to read in this book is a 360 degrees and complete side of Einstein with all his genius and flaws.
I admired how Einstein acquiesced himself at the height of anti-Semitic sentiments and this aspect was brought out beautifully by the author. His pain and agony evident throughout a certain period when Hitler ruled the roost.
Einstein's personal, social and political(very little actually) life is explored well providing balance to the book.
Somewhere in the book we read after the age of 40, the genius in a theoretical physics scientist fades away.True to this the later half of the book is not suffused with physics as much as it does in the first half.
I rated 4 as it was very difficult to grasp some of the things mentioned despite several readings. But it is a wholesome book backed by research from primary sources.

One of the finest biographies you can read. It is totally non-dramatized and goes in detail on what made Einstein the man he became. Like all good biographies, it make you think on you should bring up your family and yourself - I think this book betters all other biographies in this regard.

Very good read. Einstein is a complex personality, to understand him along with his contribution to the world is no simple task.
