Interesting variation of little mermaid's story with Sirens and Pirates

I absolutely love how this book starts!
The cover is gorgeous and the very first line hooks you in. Probably one of my favourite first lines ever.
"I have a heart for every year I've been alive.
There are seventeen hidden in the sand of my bedroom. Every so often, I claw through the shingle just to check they're still there. Buried deep and bloody."
This book follows Lira, a siren royalty nicknamed the Prince's Bane, who collects the hearts of princes on her birthday. In a twist of fate, she's turned into something she loathes the most, a human.
Elian, a prince turned siren hunter who finds a girl floating in the middle of nowhere who plans to take down his enemies, the sirens.
I love Elian's character and love for the sea. The development of the main characters is great.
