My expectations from Lunar chronicles and heartache from Heartless enticed me to order Merissa Meyer’s latest book, Renegades. Unlike Lunar chronicles, Merissa’s latest doesnot compel you from the start. Maybe, Merissa has some expectations from her readers as well; a sense of loyalty.
The story is a portrayal of a society which has taken measures to uproot evil to become a utopia. Somehow the discipline and ‘all figured out’ society has led to some disturbance, an arch rivalry between the heroes – renegades and villains – anarchists. Nova, our protagonist is against the ideology of Renegades and has got some reason for it. And Merissa Meyer tries to stitch a story on Nova’s revenge plot and search for a truth. The book picks up a speed in the end chapters, leading to a longing for its sequels.
If you are looking for something new, Renegades is nothing like it. But that is the charm of Merissa’s storytelling, she draws inspiration from the famous stories and creates something beautiful. Well, I have high hopes for this series and believe that you will also feel the same. Only if you hang in there until the end.
