I'm a big fan of Neal Barnard's books and this one is no exception. I really enjoy his writing style, its extremely easy to understand and I often find myself smiling at some of the examples and stories he brings up. Recommend!
Extremely repetitive and didn't tell me anything I didn't know. I think if you didn't know anything about the body or health or plant based then maybe it would be a good book but for me I've read much better more interesting books.
I have been plant based for 7 years now eating exactly what Dr Barnard suggests. I am still hypothyroid. His suggestion that all we need is the right amount of iodine really over simplifies a rather serious problem. The book was a quick scan with no substance. He didn’t even mention the connection to the adrenal gland and stress. You would think that a book with the word hormones in the title would at least acknowledge we have an adrenal gland but no. Someone new to plant based nutrition and health might like this book but I find that new vegans really like a picture with each recipe. There is zero pictures in this book as well. I returned it.
I liked he explained things in a simple way; however, he does not give many details. The solution is the same for everyone, a plant-based diet. I get it, but I would like more scientific information about it.
