This has left open another book of the dame magnitude. Alliances and weddings, rebuilding the empire and bringing Deven back. How well will the bhutas integration into a people who have been taught to scorn them go? Imaginative and enthralling as the last two books were. Leaving it like this though is painful and full of questions. I had a little trouble envisioning the battle at the palace of gems and how kalinda fought with the demon. It was a little choppy but who am I to criticize without being an author. The rest of the book was phenomenal in all it's glory. My visualisations were beyond any movie i could have watched. Emily R. King is a powerful writer and should be praised for her imaginations taking place in the pages of this trilogy. I do hope though that another story will immerge from these pages that have kept me glued to the story. Well done.
I have read all three books to date. I'm familiar with Sumerian deities and didn't find this series disappointed, the culture depicted is a cross between the ancient Mesopotamian lands and a dash of early India. At the risk of a spoiler alert, I do hope that the story of Kali continues with her version of Inanna's Descent. After all she has been through, I would like to see the character vindicated
I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars and in the end the last quarter of the book got my attention and held it well. I found the middle section of the book somewhat heavy and slow moving. However the battle scenes are well written and very engaging. The last quarter of the book clinched the fourth star.
Great third book of the series. The characters keep growing and learning and the epic battle is fantastic. Looking forward to the fourth book. The descriptive way the world has been set up from the first book keeps getting better each new volume. You can feel and see it as you read.
This is the third book in the series that I have just finished and I have the fourth on pre order. I have enjoyed the story of Kalinda and Devon very much and could not put the books away. Now I am hanging on for the conclusion. A nicely written fantasy that keeps u caring about the characters and wanting to know more.
I have not red this type of book before ,thought I would give it a try .I really enjoyed the first book thought it was well written and a lot of hard work and thought had gone into the book.I enjoyed it so much I bought the other two books in the series.Well done Emily keep up the good .Regards Graham
This is better than the second book in my opinion. If anything I preferred the story as told from Deven's point of view. If you enjoyed the first two books, then this is for you. I shall have to read the fourth one as well.
