For artists that want to improve drawing from imagination this is a great little book with some excellent examples on how to simplify anatomical forms. It particularly helped me with some of the tricky to decipher areas like the hips.
I personally prefer this to some of the more renowned instructional books such as loomis or bridgeman. Loomis’ book is too wordy for me and I’m personally not a fan of how his figures look. Bridgeman has the style nailed but his drawings are loose and abstract and the text is like reading some cryptic language.
This book however is simple, easy to understand, and most importantly the drawings themselves look great.
I suggest looking at Michel Lauricella's Morpho books first cause they have the easiest to follow anatomy, they are going to be artists who are slightly more complicated so start out with this book, it breaks the body down to basic shapes that you can easily construct like tubes for arms and legs and egg shape for a rib cage and little wedges for muscles.
Quite shocked at the size and quality of this book for the price its very basic and for the price I would not buy it or any over of his books I did look at some of his other titles before this book turned up so glad I did not buy it because they were even more expensive As I first opened this book the book cover came away from the spine the cover is too stiff for a paperback book
Actually, top-notch. Great binding. The format may seem too small for some though. Have been expecting the content of this very book to be heavily borrowed from Bridgeman and Hampton's legacy, however, it is much more than that. This is Lauricella's book and Lauricella's approach to the matter. It is worth reading the text in fact. Really good.
I personally struggle to draw anatomy occasionally but this book was amazing. I got recommended it over social media and it is great use to help me improve. It has radically improved how well I draw hands and I will use it for a long time!
