This book was a cute read for preschool students and could be a could way to open discussions about whining. The text is an easy to understand read. The pictures are inviting and colorful.
My concern with the book is the story didn't flow. It really felt forced. I think it was made to be a big "carpet time" (preschool teachers understand) get together book but it didn't have the heart that goes with that. It felt like it was missing something.
I do feel like this would be a good addition to a young classroom due to the topic. I think it would be a good reminder for students to think before whining.
I received this title in exchange for an honest review.
This book has a great concept: teaching children how to stop whining. It uses a great story and plot for teaching the concept to kids, but it's aimed at Pre-K, which I thought would be difficult since some of the words seemed a little too complex to understand. A good target audience would be kindergarten-1st grade in my opinion.
This book puts cute pictures and rhyme to a common behavior and may help bring self awareness to the child struggling with whining and help to teach them other word choices to better communicate. I can see how this would be used in preschools or with preschoolers in the home.
