Don’t miss it, superbly hilarious book about a nanny who is so much fun in her own irresponsible way. However deep down it teaches children many many values and how to be self sufficient. Exceptional books. All four. This is the first of the series.
Truly terrible writing. No morale in the book. The nanny hides her style/character from the parents and does the most obscure things like trying moms clothes?! Seruously, since when is this sitters acceptable behaviour? Not to mention her complete lack of responsibility - napping while the kids tidy up, giving them food they are not supposed to eat, purposefully disregarding parents I instructions for fun? I realise it is kids book but even in fiction there should be some reason.
This is a great read and thoroughly enjoyed by both my 6 and 8 year old. The stories are brilliant fun, with great wit and humour. My only criticism is I wished the chapters were a little shorter or that there were more natural breaks in the text - we found the chapters were too long for a bedtime story and had to be split over 2 or 3 nights.
Can't wait for more Marge stories though, don't keep us waiting too long!
Definitely at the mid-advanced level for a 7-year old and certainly more advanced that her school books but isn't that the point. They are page turners and she wants to finish them which is encouraging. I certainly feel Isla Fisher should write more.
Cannot recommend enough. The funniest books we’ve ever read. My 7 year old and I would fight over who does the reading as I didn’t want to miss out! Just great simple, clean family fun. Isla has created wonderful characters to really get the imagination going. Be warned that bedtime will end up delayed as neither of us could stop reading as they were so funny!
