Darkness Beyond is the first book in the new Duchy of Terra series. The first series was good quality space opera and this second series continues apace and develops the story and characters further. I am a big Glynn Stewart fan and as always for me there was a good balance between the action and the level of description which keeps you invested in the story. This is a good story, definitely worth a read. I’m looking forward to the next book. Note: I received a free electronic copy in exchange for an unbiased review (but liked it enough to buy a copy anyway)
Once I started redaing this book I was unable to put it down. It was certainly good value for money. The story has lots of twists and turns which enhance rather than detract from the story. As always with this author you can get lost in the sheer number of space vessels in the story. Ignoring that the action is great and the storyline is strong from start to finish.
Another page turner. A start of a new plotline in the established duchy of terra universe. New characters and some old faces in the Background. Picking up a small thread left dangling in the previous book but 15 years on.
There are plenty of detailed battles, and well thought out tactics. I cannot wait for the sequel
I started this series at the wrong end ,but it's intrigued me so I finished the book and have now got the the first three to read as well as the the next in the series. An enthralling read and I look forward to reading the rest
I did receive a free copy of this book prior to release, but I enjoyed it enough to buy the book once it was out. I find this author's books to be well developed and feature good characters with a decent pacing. I found this book to be a good continuation of the existing series despite it being a new series and would happily recommend this to anyone else. I'd suggest any of this authors books for anyone who likes sci-fi with a touch of space opera.
The series kicks of at great pace and does not stop till the end , I loved the action scenes and the introduction of fresh new characters.I thought the last series was one of his best but this one seems even better keep them coming
Pages and pages of statistics about weapons and ships and populations but hardly anything actually happens and when it does, a battle for instance, it's over in a page or two or even just a paragraph. Stick figure characters.
