To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
A superb book that takes you through the history of India with 100 objects. It's in fact a visual journey into the artistic tradition of India and a journey that is a delight visually and ingenues an intellectual curiosity. The author is a name to reckon with in the field of art history and its a treat to read through this book. I wish the author had included Sree Padmaswamy temple and a little more on the first churches in Kerala from the St Thomas era of 52 AD.
The Author is among the foremost living authorities on South Asian Art. Her choice reflects the unique melting pot of cultures that India was over centuries and the reader will be equally proud to understand these influences and become a part of that proud heritage.
Good quality pictures, well-researched and written. Many objects from Mughal era are covered, and they are gorgeous. Not much from ancient era (maybe because the focus is on "objects" and not places or sculptures). As the title says, it is only "a story" of India.
