Superb. From these stories it appears that Malti ji has very deep understanding of the mahol (atmosphere) and mentality of today's urban middle class familis in India. While reading these stories, it always appeared that the story belongs to neighborhood or any any family of your mohalla itself. The language is straight and each word and sentance appears meaningful. The writing is lush with a natural flow that arrests the reader to stay with the story. A must read story book.
Malti Joshi takes you to journeys of the characters in such a lucid way that you are compelled to think about the writings of legends like Premchand. Such a great way of telling the stories of middle class society that you can easily relate with the values, traits and dilemma the made class faces. Simple writing but effective much like the great munsi Premchand.
There are writers who narrate you their stories in a philosophical way or present them like a compicated, extra ordinary stories...and there is Malti Joshi...her way of telling stories stands out from all her contemporaries...she tells extra ordinary stories in an ordinary manner yet these stories made you realise how to enjoy this bliss of ordinaryness...
